Judge Joy Malek Oldfield Awarded Providence Baptist Church Juanita Shepherd Service Award

Akron, Ohio – Judge Joy Malek Oldfield will be awarded the Providence Baptist Church Juanita Shepherd Service Award at the 5th Annual PBC Scholarship Breakfast on Saturday, February 29, 2020.

The award is named in honor of member Juanita Shepherd, who recently passed away at the age of 96. Ms. Shepherd, known to many as Mother Shepherd, raised ten children on her own, all successfully completing high school and many who attended and completed college. An advocate of education, Ms. Shepherd was instrumental in developing the scholarship fund that has provided financial assistance to up to 9 students a year for the past 5 years.

“Growing up, my parents instilled in us the importance of education, a strong sense of community and the spirit of service which I now practice and teach daily in my role as a mother, Judge, and community leader,” Oldfield said.

“I am honored and humbled to receive the Juanita Shepherd Service Award recognizing my continued service to the Akron area and Summit County“, concluded Judge Oldfield.

The breakfast, being held at Tangier’s in Akron, will feature keynote speaker Roy Hall, a wide receiver who played for the Buckeyes from 2002 to 2007 and went on to play for several professional teams until 2011.
