Good morning all,
I have recently become aware that the Ohio Public Defender, as a result of the pandemic and the difficulty of meeting with clients in-person among other challenges, issued a rule amendment indicating that appointed counsel could sign the financial affidavit on behalf of the client after telephone or video consultation with the client. I have attached an example of what the form should look like when the attorney is going to sign. It is still the same form, the attorney just needs to indicate that the information was received by telephone.
Hopefully this will make the process of getting the financial affidavits completed a little easier.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
